So, I just got back from a fairly boring evening out. One of my few in-town, my age friends invites me occasionally to activities put on by a young professional group. She, of course, knows and likes everyone. I have been to three events now, and I have been bored everytime. I have next to nothing in common with these people, and am, quite frankly, rather bored by the "go for dinner, go to the pub" Friday night out. I'd rather use my energy to DO something (ride, hike, kayak) during the day, then maybe have a drink and mellow after, discussing the day with your companions. At least then you have something interesting to talk about! Instead of "So, what do you do?" over and over again, followed by icky silences. But alas, I keep trying. Everyone keeps telling me I need more friends my age in town. I am not denying it would be nice, but please let me find friends I have stuff in common with.

I was, however, 2 hours late this evening, because the farriers were here, and didn't finish up until 6:30PM. And, for those of you who are wondering, NO, I did NOT ask him out. I DID conduct some serious flirting, however. Subtly, of course. I can tease with the best of them ;). I also learned a few salient facts (FINALLY, I must be getting better at this): He is 29. He is somewhat averse to the concept of responsibility according to the other farrier, AND C. himself. And according to his freudian slip, hearing "Getting BURIED" for "Getting married" re: my friend's wedding tomorrow. *hee*. I remain convinced this guy isn't seeing anyone, but remain unsure. . . He reads a lot, mainly during the winter, but not very broadly -- primarily westerns. Which I guess makes sense, he IS a cowboy and a farrier. He also "what does *that* mean?"-ed me. When I said he might want to invoke nicer words to describe my Joey she's in the icon. I was teasing, as was he, on the topic of Joey (who had been a wee bit troublesome during the shoeing. but pretty good, all told!). But what was interesting though he didn't know what the word invoke meant, he easily asked what it meant. He was totally cool. I of course, teased "look it up in the dictionary" THEN proceeded to explain ;) That impresses me! I was a tad concerned when he said that he gets bored just riding for riding's sake. But he still likes to ride, it's just a cowboy thing. No fun unless you are working, I guess. *eyeroll*

Amusing note: His UTTER amusement at the fact his hotwater tank was fixed. After *8* months!! He's been showering at the other farrier's place, but still!! He wanted congratulation cards. And he threatened to burn down the repairman's house if the tank didn't work. To which I responded that he MAY want to reconsider, because I had heard that the showers weren't nearly so much fun in jail. He found that so funny he actually hit his hand with the shoeing hammer! Yay me!

So basically, the encounter was inconclusive, but fun and interesting. Way more so than the evening to follow!

Ok, now to bed. Have to be up early, fold clothes (still not done, it's been a month), go to hair appt, get manicure/pedicure then go to friend's wedding. Please pray for nice weather - it's outside, and though there will be party tents, the forecast is worrisome!
