Pictures of the twin girls who were born yesterday behind the cut. ( cuteness )
Mom and babies are doing fine. We put the tail bands on and did ear tags late yesterday afternoon, which is always a bit traumatic. And both girls have entropian (turned in eyelids) on both eyes, so we had to take a stitch to ensure the eyelid doesn't stay turned in and cause ulceration and blindness. Which is traumatic, but if you do it day one, they bounce back quickly, and it is MUCH better than the alternative. Both girls were bouncing around the stall after all the medical attention, so they were fine!
The mom is a bit traumatized, but managing. And, when we trimmed up the wool around her teats, so that the babies didn't suck on wool instead of the milk giving teats, we found out that she has two teats on each side!! BIZZARRE!!!
And given that there are lambs, and that I want to take Joey up to the trainers this weekend, and given that I also picked up a housesitting gig at the last minute, I shan't be going to Vancouver after all. Which is for the best, I think. And my friend from university totally understands. Hopefully, we'll connect this summer.
EtaBtw, 165 was 4.7 lbs and 166 was 5.2 lbs!
