LAMBIES!!!

pyrsandponiesOur first lamb was born last night. She is BEEEYOOOTIFUl!! A lovely little black lamb ewe.
When I was putting the pregnant ewes in the stall for the night we have a close circuit camera in the stall to monitor them through the night. VERY nice thing to have around 8PM, one of the ewes, a first time mom, would not come in. I had a hunch something was up. Mom went out to check on things about an hour later, and a little lamb was up and at 'em. She is fiesty. And MOUTHY. And SOOOOO cute. There is no better sound in the world than a lamb calling to its mom, and its mom nickering back with this quiet, low throated baah! But THE. CUTEST. THING. EVER. was when we were giving the lamb a syringe of colostrum: we like to milk off the ewe and give the baby 50cc of colostrum to ensure that they get some. It also seems to give them a kick start. I am gently giving her the colostrum, and she keeps baahing to her mom, with a mouthful of milk. It sound like: *baaaaaurgle* *baaaaaurgle* /*gush*
For a first time Mom, 111 is excellent. Her Mom, 35, is also expecting, and figured she should just take her grandchild. But 111 wasn't having that. :D
