Pam Houston's new novel (her first novel, though she has published 2 short story collections) was released in January. I had the hardcover edition of Sighthound in my hands about a month ago. But I promised I would wait for the trade paperback. Today I read an excerpt from it:
Willpower will be tough on this one. Also, Houston is going to be reading from the novel in Vancouver on April 3. I had contemplated being in Van that weekend to connect with a good friend from Uni, but had decided against it. Now I want to go again, even though it is completely illogical, a logistical nightmare, and not terribly feasible. *sigh*
Also, working on my project on a beautiful sunny holiday? REALLY takes willpower. 1 hour or so more, then I shall work with the horses. Because willpower only goes so far.
It’s funny how love is both harder, and easier, without language.
I watched the moon, those nights, roll from one of her windows to the other. I never went to sleep myself until the light behind the mountains marked the dawn.
