a quick post, because I am about to fall into the tub, and then into bed, in anticipation of another busy day.

My family is now officially under evacuation order. The fire continues to be VERY virulent. Remember how I said we were safe? Apparently, not so much. We haven't left yet, because the fire would need to go awully far awfully fast. Which it is. But we are ok, for now. We hope. We moved two of our horses out tonight, and will likely move the other 2, plus the 5 that we brought in today, tomorrow.

We also have a house full of people. People who MAY not have homes anymore. The fires were within 1/2 mile of their houses, and the parents of one of the women live in an area where 40 homes are reported burned. THis is completely nuts -- 30,000 people have been evacuated in a town of 100,000.

I had my moment of utter panic when the order was made public, because mom and dad were out hauling OTHER peoples horses. Because 100s of horses have had to be moved. The fire is really right into the city. And it is the highest rating fire - a class 6 firestorm.
Anyway, as I say, we feel safe for the next few hours, but please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. IF we get evacuated, I'll try to keep you posted -- or I'll try to let [livejournal.com profile] electricland know what is happening. God willing, the tiny bit of rain we got tonight (YES - RAIN. not enough, but 1/2 hr better than none!).

That's all from the fire zone. I'm gonna go sleep now. . . I hope. This is scary scary shit.

So glad you posted...

I was worried when I heard the news on the radio tonight. I'm glad that you're okay and that you're out of it at least for right now. Evacuation notice? That's freaking scary. It becoming one hell of a tragedy.

The best thoughts of me and mine are with you and yours! I'm praying you will get rain and lots of it!

Good luck!!

I will definitely pray for rain, and hope that this fire can be contained and beaten. Safety to you and yours (including the horses!).
