I was coming over to work (I work for my neighbour's consulting firm. The office is in his garage.) all pumped and ready to get this never-ending project close to done. I have done some work on my diss this morning, and was feeling very good -- focused and ready to work.
I walk into the office/garage, at 9AM. The admin assist is driving OUT of the driveway (um, hold it, I have work for you. . . ). The office is SWELTERING hot, because there is no A/C, and the windows don't open. THe doors don't have screens, so if you leave them open to get some air, you have a million flies bothering you. Plus, no one bothered to open the doors earlier to get the place aired out while it was still cool (it was 9 celcius at 7AM, and is still cool, but warmer -- like 18 celcius, and will go up to 28 or so later today.).
My point is that I no longer want to work. The office is an absolute [insert expletive] pigsty, because no one EVER cleans it, and so everyone is a slob (I took the garbage out already. Not having an overflowing communal garbage by my desk is nice). The flies are already irritating me. And the open door is helping, but it is still stuffy in here. ICK IcK ICK.
There are things I like about this job, and the commute is GREAT, but I do wish my boss would do something about the office space. But the prob is, he is the WORST slob of all (I ain't perfect, but I try for SOME basic cleanliness/tidyness) and he doesn't have to be in the office all day -- he takes calls in the (Air conditioned) house, or in the yard, so it doesn't really bother him. Me, I find it hard to focus on editing, but alas, the job must get done. And I *DO* want to finish this project, soon. So I guess I will stop whining and get to it.
On a happier note: Beau is doing better. Still a bit swollen, and favoring the leg, but he is in good spirits and the hosing and arnica seem to be helping.
