So, the fire is burning hot. And the winds are blowing. and the fire is spreading. And more trestles have fallen (1-2 more). And everyone remains stressed.
We just repacked all the photos and keepsakes in mom's car, and are going to store them at the office, so if we SHOULD be put back on evacuation alert, or if we SHOULD be told to actually evacuate, there will be one less thing to worry about. And tomorrow, we are gonna organize the tack and stuff. But so far, we are in good shape -- the fire seems to be moving in a direction that won't hit us. But the winds are blowing our way, so who knows. We are still pretty comfortable, but want to be prepared.
On a positive note, however, the friends I was SOOOOO very worried about evacuated themselves and their horses last night. They are just below my place, where we evacuated our sheep to when we evacuated. That they and their lovely horses are safe makes me SOOOO very happy. I spent a couple of hours visiting with them and their hosts and the horses today, and helped oout a little (I was dressed in good clothes, and told I shouldn't help much out. I pushed the wheelbarrow anyway!).
Actually, it was pure serendipity no, not Pat and Frank's surprise foal, though that is her name, and I did get to visit her today! ;) that I knew they were out, because when I was in town I ran into our farrier (who is also a mutual friend) who had helped them move their horses last night. I was somewhere I would normally not be, so I was meant to see Ray, and to find out about Pat and Frank. With whom I had a lovely visit.
Also, I have made my peace, more or less, re: the sheep incident.
And on a purely frivolous note, my hair looks MAAHRVELOUS, simly marrhhhvelous, darlin's. My new hairstylist did a fabulous job with the foils -- it looks LOVELY. but of course, this beauty is all natural! and I do NOT have grey hair! ;) And the cut is great to. I always feel great after a good haircut.
So, all in all, a good day. I'm concerned that the flames are near Pat and Frank's region, but I am hoping for the best. And I am just glad they and their horses are safe.
